Terms & Conditions
1) Injury/Illness - If you are sick or injured and will miss class a parent must email the Head Coach (Sarah) before training. You are required to stay home if you are sick and contagious. If you are injured you will be encouraged to still attend class in order to not fall behind. A doctors note is required for fees to be stopped.
2). You are permitted to 7 sick days over the course of the season. Parents are required to send an absence request via email. Failure to do so will result in your place on the team being up for review. Commitment to the team is compulsory when training with VDC, on the lead up to a competition the maximum amount of consecutive weeks off is 2.
3) It is expected and required that all VDC dancers show up to training, competitions and events with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
4) As a member of VDC you must not compete with any other dance school that competes within our competition circuit. You can still attend another dance school/gymnastic club/drama school or take part in any workshops outside of VDC but you must ask the Head Coach (Sarah) before doing so.
5) Any dancer whose fees are not up to date will unfortunately not be able to attend training until any outstanding fees are settled. Fees are due on the 1st of every month, please pay on time to avoid temporary and permanent exclusion. VDC reserve the right to charge late fee of £5.00 which will occur with any fees outstanding by more than 7 days. There will be no reduction or refund for fees if a student does not attend there sessions. Fees will only be refunded if a class is cancelled.
6) Uniform - All VDC Dancers are required to wear the correct dance uniform at all times. Our custom VDC uniform is not compulsory but is encouraged to be worn to show team spirit and dedication to VDC. The correct dance uniform includes:
- VDC Training Kit
- VDC T-Shirt
- Black leotard ( any brand preferably black)
- Crop top and shorts set designed for dancers
- Black tights/leggings
- Tan jazz shoes/foot thongs
- Trainers can be worn for Hip Hop only
Baggy clothes may be worn to class and competitions (ie hoodies and joggers) but NOT to be worn during training. Our coaches need to check that our dancers are using the correct alignment and wearing baggy clothes will not be beneficial for this.
7) Hair - Grooming is an essential part of the performing arts and all VDC dancers should be correctly presented for each class that they attend. Hair must be tied back from the face at all times. Preferably in a bun secured with a bun net and kirbies.
8) Bad behaviour will not be tolerated. Examples of bad behaviour include:
- Being disrespectful to any VDC Coaches (talking back, not listening , bad attitude)
- Lack of focus in class
- Consistently not wearing the appropriate uniform and footwear
- Consistent issue with lateness
- Talking negatively about other students, coaches and parents.
- Consistent issues with grooming i.e hair not being tied back prior to class
9) Please ensure that all items of uniform and property are clearly marked with the owners name. Students should not bring valuable items to class. We accept no responsibility for any items lost or left on the premises.
10) We will be taking photographs/videos of our dancers during training and at competitions/events. We use photographs and videos to monitor individual and team progress. Photographs/videos of our dancers may be used on our social media platforms. If you want to opt out of your child being featured on our social media platforms please make the Head Coach (Sarah) aware and the team will comply with your choice.
11) Promise to contact VDC if I am going to be absent from a rehearsal or class. I understand that by classes during 'Red Zones' with unauthorized absence may result in removal from any show or competition routines, that all class, costume and competition fees are non-refundable.
12) Members of the competition team at VDC are required to commit to participating in competitions for the entire season. If a dancer withdraws from a competition, they will incur a £50 fee for re-choreographing.
During the "Red Zone" period, which is the 4 weeks leading up to an event/competition, the date of the event/competition, and 1 week following the event/competition, dancers must attend all training sessions. Failure to attend training sessions during designated red zones will result in a review of the dancer's position on the team and potential substitution with a reserve
